Tara K. McGee

Tara McGee is a professor at the University of Alberta whose research program focuses on the human dimensions of wildfire. Her research program has included studies on the human dimensions of wildfire prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. She co-leads the First Nations Wildfire Evacuation Partnership, and co-author of First Nations Wildfire Evacuations: A guide for communities and external agencies. The partnership’s research has included research with seven First Nations in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario where interviews were conducted with more than 200 community leaders, evacuees, and some people who stayed behind during evacuations. More recent research includes studies of First Nations wildfire evacuation host communities, First Nations preparedness, and wildfire smoke. Dr. McGee leads the Human Dimensions of Environmental Hazards research group at the University of Alberta.
